Brain function and pathology: Minisymposium and PhD defence

Simen Gylterud Owe's trial lecture and PhD defense

Simen Gylterud Owe will give his trial lecture with the title The role of inhibitory mechanisms in the hippocampus in the development of epilepsies on Thursday 2 October 2008 at 1215, in "Lille Auditorium" (by the cantina), Domus Medica, University of Oslo. He will defend his PhD thesis with the title Elements of glutamate release, action and reuptake on Friday 3 October 2008 at 1015, in Auditorium 13, Domus Medica, University of Oslo.

The CMBN Minisymposium "From structural basis of memory and glutamate spillover to control of brain blood flow" will be organized on 2 October 2008 in "Lille Auditorium", Domus Medica, University of Oslo, following the trial lecture by Simen Gylterud Owe. GNN-research seminar: Neuroplasticity and neurogenesis in mood disorders, Oslo 9th October 2008

The main aim of the meeting is to present projects with a translational perspective based on cooperation between basic science and clinical research. At this seminar we will discuss the current state of the art with regard to neuroplasticity and neurogenesis in mood disorders with emphasis on methodological and interpretative issues. If the meeting could lead to a closer collaboration between some of the participants, it would be great. Please see the program for details.

From Cochlea to Cortex: Recent Advances in Auditory Neuroscience, Oslo, 18th - 19th July 2008

The symposium "From Cochlea to Cortex: Recent Advances in Auditory Neuroscience" is organized in honor of Prof. Dr. Med. Kirsten Kjelsberg Osen's contributions to the field of auditory neuroscience. Kirsten K. Osen was the first woman to be appointed professor of medicine in Norway. The symposium will be held 18th - 19th July 2008 at Holmenkollen Park Hotel, Oslo. Mini symposium on brain development and early brain dysfunction, Oslo, 11 June 2008

The mini symposium will take place on 11 June 2008 following the international meeting on brain aquaporins in Oslo. It is organized by the Nordic Centre of Excellence for research in Water Imbalance Related Disorders (WIRED), Centre for Molecular Biology and Neuroscience (CMBN) and Gaustad Neuroscience Network (GNN).
